About Dinesh Chandra and Annie Dandavati Chandra

Annie Dandavati Chandra is a successful business owner in San Jose, Ca and has been recognized and honored for her leadership and community service. Her emphasis has been on achieving a balance between her responsibility to her family/friends and her responsibility to her community/world. To her living a meaningful life means contributing and making a difference on issues of importance such as poverty, disease, illiteracy, justice, and empowerment of the underprivileged specially women and children. Her interest and passion also extends to resolving issues of global conflict. She believes that it is possible to resolve these issues by focusing on the root causes. This means creation of a shared vision and then exploring the choices any community or nation has. Creating clarity of purpose and awareness of the choices empowers people. As a co founder of Coalition 2001 – Celebration of Unity in Diversity, this is precisely what she did in the Bay area. She has been a delegate to CA Democratic Party and runner up nominee, National Democratic Party for the 15th Congressional District. She has served two terms as chairperson for the Santa Clara County commission on the Status of women, amongst several other Boards and Organizations. Additionally she is an active Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum.  

Dinesh Chandra is considered a Global citizen.  Born in India, Dinesh offers a unique blend of Eastern and Western values and philosophy. He has further enhanced his practical knowledge by working in the U.S and in fifteen other countries, acquiring a global knowledge base and skill set. His holistic approach to life is reflected even in his education and work experience. Starting out as an engineer by training he gained valuable experience in Total Quality, Knowledge Sharing and the development of Learning Communities. He has led several workshops in Transformational Leadership, with business and community leaders. He has a deep belief that each of us can make a difference by living a larger purpose that allows us to go beyond just our individual egos and successes. As a co-founder of the Foundation for Human and Economic Development, (www.FHED.org) he is currently facilitating a People to People Dialogue for Peace and Prosperity between India and Pakistan-- two nations with nuclear capabilities. Dinesh is a contributing author to ‘Learning Organizations: Developing Cultures for Tomorrow's Workplace’ and ‘Community Building: Renewing Spirit and Learning in Business’. He is currently co editing a book entitled ‘True Wealth’ and authoring a book entitled ‘Business Yogi: Union of inner and outer wealth’.     

Indira and Dinesh together in addition to the local community issues are now expanding their attention to global issues.  In August of 2001, they spearheaded a three-day Indo Pak people to people dialogue in Panchgani along with Pragati Foundation. A year later in August 2002, they took a delegation to a three day workshop in Vermont hosted by the Global Institute for Responsible Leadership, along with Physicians for Social Responsibility.
